The local professionals at Darson Insurance Services are happy to assist you through the claims process. Please contact us first in the event of any claim. For serious claims after-hours, please call the emergency contact number for your insurer. In the event of a disputed claim, we will act as your advocate with the insurance company.

Involved in an Accident? What You Should Do

- Call the police
- Call for emergency medical assistance as needed
- Do not admit fault
- Preserve the scene. Take pictures with your camera from all angles
- Take note of accident details including location, date, time, injuries and description
- Record information from the other party or parties involved including name of insurance provider, policy number and name of the broker/agent
- Make sure to get a copy of the police report which has important information such as the accident number

How to Protect Your Vehicle from Theft

- Keep your vehicle locked at all times
- Never leave your vehicle running when you get out
- Avoid street parking if possible
- Don’t leave your keys in your vehicle
- Conceal money, other valuables, compact discs, etc., when you leave or put them in the trunk
- Park in a well-lit, highly visible area when possible
- Invest in a car alarm
- Know your neighbors and ask them to report any suspicious activity
How to Prevent Crime at Your Home

- Keep bushes/shrubbery cut back so they don’t cover or partially cover your windows and doors
- Make sure windows and doors are locked when you leave
- Make your home look occupied – use timers for lighting if leaving for extended periods of time
- Consider keeping a radio or TV on when leaving for a short period of time
- Invest in a home alarm system – this might also reduce the cost of your premium
- Take a photo or video inventory of your home
- Close your blinds and curtains at night
- Keep jewellery and other valuables in an unlikely place or a safe deposit box
- Use as much exterior lighting as possible
- Install deadbolt locks
- Don’t leave spare keys in obvious places (e.g. under the welcome mat at front door)
